International Leadership Training (ILT) – Cornerstone of the SInnovation Project -

Germany – ASEAN / Promotion of Innovation-based Growth is a Human Capacity Development (HCD) cooperation project between Germany and ASEAN countries in the field of promoting innovation and technology (PIT) at three relevant levels: innovation policy, innovation system and technology & innovation project management.

On behalf of the german Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, this project is realized as a regionally focused cooperation in the field of Science and Technology. In November 2011, the projectplan was coordinated and the realization period started.

According to this activity plan two major actions are on the agenda in the current year:

the ILT programme, whose launch is scheduled for May 31st, 2012 and whose preparatory phase is to start on June 4th, 2012 and
the 1st International Conference, scheduled for July 11-13th, 2012

The 2-years-ILT is targeted to young professionals with „future leader“ characteristics, working in the field of innovation and technology management & promotion in ASEAN countries. Participants will gain their qualifications by initiating concrete changing processes via realizing a transfer project in their own organisation or company. Survey – Marketability of Business Engineers Among Industries in Malaysia

Universiti Malaysia Pahang(UMP) is conducting a survey on the marketability of Business Engineers among the industry in Malaysia. UMP is the first university in Malaysia to offer a Dual Bachelor Degree Programme in collaboration with the German University of Applied Sciences, Hochschule Karlsruhe. In 2010 Mechatronics was implemented. This year Automotive will follow.
Currently the implementation of Business Engineering as the third programme to be introduced at UMP in 2013 is under discussion.
We have prepared a very brief questionnaire which would provide vital feedback for the future human capital development in Malaysia. Thus, we would greatly appreciate 10 minutes of your time to complete the following Questionnaire.

GMI Extends Invitation to MGCC Members for their OPEN DAY 2012

The German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) is organising its annual OPEN DAY event this coming Saturday, 7 April 2012 from 9am-4pm. Visitors will be taken on a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities and witness demonstrations of equipment within the campus in Kajang. They will also have the opportunity to meet staff and students, find out about courses and visit the teaching laboratories. GMI offers various short-term courses and customized programs tailor-made to suit the respective industries. The program is conducted by GMI in collaboration with their industrial partners.

Die internationalen Rankings würdigen vor allem die Qualität der Infrastruktur und die Güte der Forschungs- und Entwicklungslandschaft, welche die Anziehungskraft der Bundesrepublik im internationalen Wettbewerb begründen. Zudem ermöglichen die wirtschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen ein sicheres und effizientes Arbeitsumfeld.

Trotz der Eurokrise und den Unsicherheiten an den Märkten herrschen großes Vertrauen und viel Zuversicht in den Standort Deutschland. Nicht nur die zahlreichen ausländischen Ansiedlungen 2010 und 2011 belegen dies, auch renommierte internationale Standortstudien sprechen sich weiterhin klar für Deutschland aus. The storyline is simple, can the hero and his beautiful mistress, Miss Jane Worthington, an attractive young lady who works as a secretary to the leader of the Opposition, get away with spending a naughty night in a smart London hotel in the company of a dead body hanging out of their room window without anyone knowing? The play will be directed by David Warwick, one of UK’s most talented comedy directors and “Out of Order “ along with a full British Cast.

Germany Heads the List of European Countries to File Patent Applications in Malaysia in 2011

A review of the patent filing statistics provided by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) reveals that patent filings by Germany are steadily increasing over the past few years. In fact, Germany has the largest number of patent filings compared to other European countries (re: Table 1).

The increase in filing of patent applications is a reflection of the interests and concerns of businesses in Europe of the technological capability of Malaysia. The European companies view Malaysia as capable of exploiting various areas of technologies in which they have any interests or market in the country. Patent applications are filed to protect their turf in Malaysia which is considered as a country rapidly increases its technical prowess in a wide variety of technology areas.
